Prix de fin d'année / End of the Year Goodies

Photo Hosted at Buzznet.com

Wow, thank you to those who wrote to the Weblog Awards 2005 to have my site nominated, because I imagine that a few e-mails had to be sent to organizer Kevin Aylward in order to have me among the finalists in the European blogs category (which is a bit of a stretch!) Meanwhile, and this is on another level, my brother Olivier (to Matt's right, in the pic) has defended his thesis brilliantly, about the German town of Ratisbonne in Medieval times: "Mémoires bourgeoises, mémoires civiques. Congratulations, Dr. Richard. Oh, there was a time when I was wiser and taller than him and I could kick his ass!

Right now, I could compete for the Stress-out 2005 awards, just a few days from flying back to Europe for Xmas. The remodelling of emmanuellerichard.com is still in the works, with Sheila of Tart Graphics as the project manager and an illustration of the awesome Terry Colon, of the dearly missed Suck.com. For five years, I'd be been doing the HTML coding myself, hence certain versions of the blog with cubist flair. Time to call the pros.

To vote at the Blog Awards, it's here: in fact, those whimsical prizes are especially useful to make you (re)discover sites. We noticed in the Euro Blogs category A Fistful of Euros who organizes The Satin Pajamas Awards, La Petite Anglaise and Pesticide, the excellent Budapest blog. I hear that Mr. Pesticide is planning a meeting at the Turkish baths and a party (buli en hongrois) in Budapest on the week-end of January 6, when we'll be visiting my fave "pearl of the Danube" and fried cheese capital of the world.

PS: vote for Hit & Run, the Reason group blog, and demand your Free Minds, Free Pizza.

Meh, we could take Budapest in a Mexican death match of fried cheese any day of the week!

Hey Doug! Our fried cheeses are better than yours! And our tartar sauce has more zest.
Ok, this Prague-Budapest rivalry is a little bit childish.
I hear that you're going to Kazakhstan (?!) next week, but we need to reserve Sunday evening for a fried cheese in Prague.

Bravo, Herr Doktor Olive!
