"It's a good time to be alive"

"It's a good time to be alive," to quote a slightly exhausted Laurent Haug, in the closing remarks of his successful Internet conference Lift06 in Geneva: a lot of video and comments and discussions keep flowing in on Lift's weblog, including the very topical "Internet in China" presentation by Marc Laperrouza. It contains this rather disturbing quote by a Chinese blogger in reference to the Yahoo! in China controversy:
China not only changed certain lifestyles of Westerners by providing inexpensive goods, but also used its enormous market to change Westerner’s moral standards”

Chiu Yung, Blogger, Southern China

I know, I know, the conf happened two weeks ago already and I haven't blogged anything: too much work and a vital need to get away from the computer. Actually, it smells as though I haven't long to go, with this "best mummy of the blogosphere" nomination -- ok, in fact a "Satin Pajama" nomination for a "Lifetime Achievement Award" at Fistful of Euros. Like Hollywood's old crabs considered every year at the Oscar for a lifetime achievement statue, the ultimate nostalgic nod given to has-beens about "to check out," as Americans say!

"A vital need to get away from the computer"... You were not that far though, I did see you IN my computer a few days ago: a video-interview for a swiss (?) TV show. I won't disclose the link though (but it is related to TV5) ;-)
