Intoonfada and journalistic troublemakers @ the L.A. Press Club

Those who know me in L.A. know that I volunteer for the Los Angeles Press Club, which was super glamorous in the 40s and 50s: not only was their HQ at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, but around that time, the organization would elect a Miss Press Club every year. One year, Miss L.A. Press Club turned out to be this young actress, Marilyn Monroe. I didn't know that two years before, Mamie Van Doren had also been Miss Press Club (see the pic from (see the pic from Mamie's website... , who, by the way, is still is great shape). There's nothing like exploiting a blond beauty to shamelessly promote two upcoming events ... less sparkly than in the old days but right for our times:

INTOONFADA THIS THURSDAY. Matt is moderating an interesting L.A. Press Club panel this Thursday, May 11, at 7:30, talking about the Danish cartoons controversy, specifically how it played out with Borders banning an issue of Skeptical Inquirer magazine.

On the panel will be Skeptical Inquirer guy & constitutional lawyer Eddie Tabash; Reason's Brian Doherty, Edina Lekovic of the Muslim Public Affairs Council.

C'est pas possible... Mamie Van Doren...
