Une fête pour "rôtir" Cathy Seipp / a party to roast Cathy Seipp

Photo Hosted at Buzznet

Extrait: "Can you honestly say that your relationship with Amy Alkon is strictly platonic?"

Tomorrow in Los Angeles, friends of journalist-blogger Cathy Seipp will roast her during a festive party, to which fans, friends and antagonists are invited to (all details are below. And yes, this is Ken Layne in the picture with Cathy... he's currently operating at Wonkette's.) Luke Ford at LAist fired off the Cathy-Fest with "12 Silly questions to Cathy Seipp", such as: "Can you honestly say that your relationship with Amy Alkon is strictly platonic?"

ACF Tribute to Cathy Seipp

Come celebrate as we roast one of our own!

Cathy Seipp has been in the trenches of the battle for independent thinking in Hollywood for as long as she has plied her craft -- and it's an amazing record! Here's a chance to join with like-minded others and salute her courage, her humor, her leadership and her incredible mind.

This is a memorable bash that you won't forgive yourself for missing!

It just took me 3 weeks to change servers, move all the stuff and bug the tech support people to death. But it works!

I notice that in the French version you start by explaining what a roast is (or at least that's what I assume the first paragraph is about, I don't actually read French)

I'm guessing that roasts are unknown in France.

Do you have any guesses as to why?

I laughed out loud watching the roast of William Shatner on Comedy Central, especially George Takei's speech :-). That said, it's good to have you back, Emmanuelle. I missed reading you.

Salut Emmanuelle,
The use of 'roast' sounds unfortunate to readers in the UK.
To 'roast' somebody in street London slang means to gang rape them. Tabloid papers often accuse famous footballers roasting young groupies they pick up at showbiz parties.
I hope your friend is okay...
a bientot,
Lucy
