Oui, c'est bien bien triste tout ça, dire que W. va, en plus, avoir la possibilité de choisir deux voire trois juges Suprême lors de son second mandat.
Dire aussi qu'hier, dans les Etats où des amendements anti-gays (lire la chronique d'Andrew Sullivan sur le sujet) étaient en jeu, cette proposition fut souvent largement approuvée par la population de ce même Etat (il existait cependant des variantes mais en Ohio, par exemple et si je ne me trompe pas, l'amendement allait plus loin que l'interdiction du mariage homo en incluant l'interdiction d'une union civile entre deux personnes du même sexe dans le lot)

Finalement, la bonne nouvelle vient de la Californie où la proposition concernant la recherche sur les cellules souches a été soutenue par une belle majorité (Mel peut retourner faire le guignol sur sa croix intégriste).

Hi Rodger, I don't know if it has to do with reading but I sure feel awful after these elections, in part because I realize I have no clue about the country I live in. We live in a big metropolis. Friends have travelled the world and are smart newsjunkies and you tend to forget about the people you rarely meet. Who are these people in the middle of the country who voted for Bush? I have NO idea. You hear they're obese, eat crap food, drive pick-up trucks everywhere and don't read that much... These are the cliches. In return, they are highly suspicious of the Coastal "sophisticated" people who tell them they're fat rednecks who don't read etc. Wonder why!! All of this makes you want to travel there and talk to other Americans to find out what's really going on and how they see the world and this... president... ahhh...
