Quand le New York Post s'emballe / When the NYP gets carried away

You've got to see this to believe it (and have a good laugh): The New York Post got carried away when Lance Armstrong said he backed Paris for the 2012 Olympics and earned himself a French make-over complete with beret and an Axel of Weasel T shirt. The paper calls him "The weasel on two wheels." Ah, aren't they good at headlines and puns. And it doesn't matter if Armstrong cleary stated that, at the end, he rides for New York!"

Wow, it's so 2003. So how popular are berets in France, really?

I seriously want to vomit whenever I see cr@p like this anymore. I'm so sick of what it seems the US has become. That no one will come out and call b-s to these people is so depressing. They did a poll of random NY'ers and most of them said they didn't want the Olympics in their city, are they traitors too?!. Well there you go. And just because Lance wants them in Paris, he's a traitor, or somehow a French-lover, which is apparently a bad thing. He can't have an opinion?!! Ugh...please someone tell me that this Republican/Neo-con nightmare of the last 5 years will be over soon...please? I promise I'll be good.

Oh, 'tis but a love bite. I suspect they're just having a little wicked fun, NYP-style.

I'll pray with you Chris! And drink to our health with Paul next time I see him (Hi Paul!)

Re: the NYP, their obsession is quite funny actually. They had a hilarious cover showing Laura Bush shaking hands with Chirac, grimacing with disgust! I mean it's funny until French friends in NYC tell me they're being regularly insulted or criticized by taxi drivers and others. Which doesn't happen in L.A., which, coincidently, doesn't have a conservative tabloid.

Hear, hear! I'll buy the first round. That is disturbing news, however, that nice folks are getting hassled because of their nationality. Most embarrassing. And not exactly indicative of the Olympic Spirit. Speaking for myself, as much as I adore NYC I don't think they should get the Olympics, if only because of that awful desecration of Emma Lazarus' poem they keep spraying all over the TV.
