Partie à Reno, dans le Nevada pendant 4 jours rendre visite à Ken Layne, barbu comme un ours, et la précieuse Laura Crane (qui va peut-être raviver son blogue fantôme?), où j'essayerai de me mettre-à-jour le blogue avec leur connection sans-fil au pied des montagnes. / Gone to Reno, NV for 4 days to visit Ken "bearded like a bear" Layne and the precious Laura Crane (who will maybe revive her ghost blog?). There I'll try to update a bit using their wireless connection at the foot of the mountains.

Bravo Sergio! Il y a un an et demi, j'avais écrit avec Matt un article dans Télérama sur Sergio Bichao, un lycéen de Hillside, dans le New Jersey, fan de Matt Drudge qui semait la zizanie dans son bahut avec son site, DaHiller, plein d'infos politiquement incorrectes sur son école et le rectorat de sa ville. Bref, une sorte de mini-Drudge Report local.
Sergio est maintenant étudiant, mais il vient d'être élu triomphalement au conseil d'administration du district scolaire. On ne dirait pas, mais c'est une belle responsabilité et un beau pied de nez à ce même comité, qui a fait campagne pour qu'il arrête son site.
J'aimais bien l'époque où je faisais des articles sur internet: les ados étaient souvent au coeur des histoires les plus passionnantes. / Bravo Sergio! A year and a half ago, I wrote a story with Matt in French weekly Télérama about Sergio Bichao, a New Jersey high-school student and huge fan of Matt Drudge (Matt's story in English is here.) With his own site DaHiller, he hammered away at the administrators of the school as well as the local school board, with politically incorrect articles and columns. In short, his site is a mini, local Drudge Report.
Sergio is now a university student, and he has been freshly and triumphantly elected as a member of the Hillside School Board. It's quite a responsibility, and quite the middle finger to that same board, which had previously campaigned for Sergio to stop his website. I loved it back when I was writing articles about the Internet: teenagers were often at the heart of the most interesting stories.

La webcam qui roule... C'est celle de L.A.Avenue.com, crée ce type, Nick, qui conduit à travers Los Angeles et sa région pour son boulot. Une webcam installée sur son tableau de bord, et reliée à une connection sans fil, fait voyager l'internaute pratiquement sur le siège du passager. Intriguant, même si le site me parait un peu confus. (Via E-media Tidbits) / The rolling webcam... belongs to L.A.Avenue.com, created by this guy, Nick, who drives around Los Angeles and region for his job. He set up a webcam on his dashboard, with a wireless connection, and makes the site's visitors travel almost as if they were in the passenger seat. It's intriguing, but I find the site a bit too confusing. (Via E-media Tidbits)

Ici, vous pouvez trouver une étude des campagnes de prévention de l'alcoolisme en France, en Belgique et au Québec, où l'on met en garde les enfants. (Sur l'affiche: "Je pousse bien, car je ne bois jamais.) Quand je raconte aux amis américains que lorsque j'étais petite en France, on me laissait gouter le vin et la bière, et que j'allais même parfois chercher des bouteilles chez le marchand de vin jovial au nez rouge, ils sont généralement horrifiés. Ma copine tchèque Marketa marchait jusqu'au pub pour remplir la choppe de bière de son père... et repartir dans la neige, la pauvre enfant! / On this page, you can find a study (in French) about alcoholism-prevention campaigns in France, Belgium, Quebec, targeted at very young children (On the poster here, it says: "I grow well, because I never drink!") MediaTIC a déterré un bijou de blogue intimiste: elle est trop cette nana "amie des hommes." Maïa Mazaurette est journaliste, se tape la tournante de France 3 (jargon pour les jeunes journalistes qui font le tour de France des rédactions régionales de France 3, de CDD en CDD,) a publié un livre libertin et en irrite quelques uns. Cette fille me plait! / MediaTIC digs up this jewel of an intimate blog: this French girl "who befriends men" is quite mind-blowing -but in French only. Maïa Mazaurette is a journalist, currently doing "the France 3 carousel," in which young journalists are sent on a sort of Tour de France, working in regional bureaus of the French public television network France 3, on one short-term contract after another. She has published a libertine book and seems to irritate a few people. I like this girl!
